System Components

1. Server stores and manages the ID card data issued to individuals, and tracks data on who enters and when the entry process occurred.
2. Credentials are considered the key to crossing the door and entering the building, as only their holder can enter, and each person has a unique card that differs from others. It may be an identification card with a magnetic stripe, or a fingerprint, eye, face, or palm.
3. Reader is a device that reads credentials electronically to allow a person to enter the door, and it has different types depending on the type of credentials.
4. Control Panel verifies the individuals’ credentials and sends a signal to the door to open and unlock it if the credentials match.
5. Door Locks open the door as soon as the signal is received from the control unit and then close the door immediately after the person enters. They have several types depending on the type of doors (electric, magnetic, wooden, aluminum, glass doors).
6. Software is the controller for individuals’ access. It contains the central database and file manager for the system. It records all system activities and distributes information to and from the building’s control panels.
